[situation] On the W. [West] side of High Street. A substantial stone building erected in the year 1795 for the sale of bread stuffs by a company of shareholders, at present the upper story is used by the Linktown authorities for transacting their local affairs and is known by the designation of the Meal Hall and has been used as such since the year 1816. The lower part of the building is used for the purpose for which it was erected and is called the meal society. |
