A substantial stone edifice erected (1788) on an eminence on the S. [South] West side of the town, & stands in an angle formed by the Railway & Turnpike road (No3). It contains sittings for 825 persons none of which are free. The present Ministers (Revd. [Reverend] Mr. Backie) stipend is £200 per annum with a Manse & Glebe.
