A neat building erected 1821 -2 it contains sittings for 800 persons, [obscured] free. It belongs to the religious body called United Presbyterian. At present there is no regular minister the service being performed by probationers. Salary of last minister £160 per annum.

[situation] A good spring well, a pump [was] erected over it about 3 years ago. It is supposed that the well is on, [or] very close to the grounds which anciently belonged to a religious order called the Culdees, & that it was by them dedicated to St. Mary. No information can be obtained [respecting] the site of the cell of the Culdees mentioned in the New Stat. [Statistical] Account.
