031 A pretty large hill on the farms of North and South Pitkenny and Inchgall Mill. There is a tradition in this locality that the Romans fought a battle here but the exact spot where it happened cannot be ascertained. Some supposed it was at the remains of a cairn which is on the south side of the hill. There is only about one half of this cairn now to be seen the rest was taken away for building dykes. Mr Russel says he found several human bones spears etc when carting away the stones. In order to preserve the rest of the Cairn it was planted
