This name now applies to two Cottages and a farm of land let with that of Lochran, on the South Side of the Westernmost Cottage is the following inscription
"This House in the Reign of James V belonged to Squire Meldrum of Cleish and Binns Celebrated in a Poem of Sir David Lindsay of the Mount" Sir Michael Malcolm of Lochore by an Action of the Court of Session (of much Curiosity) was in 1766 put upon the roll of Kinross-shire. Freeholders for Binn that Estate being ratonied as Two Twenty Shilling Lands of old extent, and so was Said not to be a 40 Shilling land."
