John Dewar Esqr. of Lassodie James Arnot (Bowleys) Mr Collin Pitbladdo Garlands |
030 | [situation] A Short distance S. [South] of Braehead. A good Spring Well on the farm of Braehead Mr. Dewar says that it was named after the Patron Saint of Dunfermline; and that the lands of Braehead and Blairathie (the adjoining farm) once belonged to the Abbey of Dunfermline which may account for the name. There is nothing traditional about the medicinal qualities of the Well, or having been resorted to by Devotees in Roman Catholic times. |
