A small rocky pasture Knowe or Knoll on the farm of Kings-seat. Mr. William McDonald says that there is a tradition in the locality of this district having been much infested with Wolves Which Some of the Kings of Scotland used to hunt, And that in Consequence of the Kings making the Knoll their favourite resort for taking their luncheon the name Arose.
