006 This Church is a Handsome Building in the Gothic Style of Architecture, it was erected in 1819, 20 & 21 at a Cost of £5000 on the site of the old Collegiate Church founded (According to Chalmers) in 1342 by Patrick Tenth Earl of Dunbar and March, Their is a considerable space round it used as Burial ground on entering the Church the Strangers attention is arrested by a superb Monument erected to the Memory of George Home Earl of Dunbar, Lord High Treasurer of Scotland, whose death took place rather suddenly in Whitehall, on the 29th January 1611, and it is supposed by poison. The Church Contains sittings for 1800 Persons. The Revd [Reverend] John Jaffray is the present Minister and receive a salary of about £700 a year from the Heritors of the Parish of Dunbar and other sources.
