004 An old castle on the farm of Redhouse, it is a large building six storys high and completely roofless, the walls which are built of red sandstone are of considerable thickness and indented with embrasures. Its interior is one mass of broken walls and stairs and a portion of the East Side seems to have been removed. The date of its erection is unknown. The last proprietor of it named Hamilton lost it and his life for engageing in the Rebellion of 1745. On a stone over the door is the following inscription R M D MNIDOMINVS TRVSTRARD. It is at present the property of the Earl of Wemyss.
