"The church of North BerwicK was dedicated to St Andrew and
there was an altar in it which was erected to the Virgin Mary.
Agnes Fawlaw the wife of Lauder of the Bass with the consent
of her husband granted an annuity of 10 marks from a tenement in
Edinburgh and five marks from a tenement in Leith for supporting
a chaplain to officiate at the virgin Mary's altar in St Andrew's Kirk at North Berwick. And this
grant of the pious Agnes was confirmed by James IV. in 1491. M S. [Manuscript] Donations, 41." -- Chalmers Caledonia vol, [volume] 2 page 517.
