A bleak island in the Frith of Forth a little north of Longskelly Rocks on the coast of Dirleton Parish. Its appearance is highly picturesque the northern portion is of considerable elevation, very rocky and precipitous. It is seperated from the southern part by a chasm covered by high water, on the eastern end of this part of the Island is a tabular piece of pasture land, called Castle Tarbet, on a rocky eminence and rises in a castellated form, hence the name. On the 8th May 1509, a royal charter was granted by James IV to Henry Congleton
