010 A neat and substantial building three storeys high and in good repair built for and used as a court house. It is of the anglo-gothic Style. The front is of polished stone from Culello in Fife and Jerusalem quarry near Haddington. on the ground floor is the Justice of peace court room 36 feet by 25 and other offices with 3 lock up rooms on the second story is the Sheriff's court room 36 feet by 25. It was designed by William Bain architect Edinburgh and the foundation stone laid with masonic honours on the 27th May 1833. The property of the County of Haddington.

010 A plain substantial building situate immediately behind the County Buildings three storys high and in good repair with work house stores and a small garden attached. The interior is very neatly fitted up and all the prisoners cells are heated by hot air on the celebrated Dr [Doctor] [Hales] principal. There is 6 cells on the ground floor for females and the same number for males on the second storey. There is a Governor, Matron and Turnkey attached to it. The Revd. Dr Cook is Chaplain. The property of Burgh and County of Haddington. Built in the year 1844
