010 The lower part of a house Situate in Hardgate Street used as a Branch of the Bank of Scotland, it has a garden and a small piece of ornamental ground attached. Thomas Lodrick Banker and occupier, it is proposed to remove to the west end of the Town at the Term.

010 A house situate in Hardgate Street two storeys high and in middling repair. This was occasionaly the residence of the infamous Bothwell who married the unfortunate Mary Queen of Scotland, there is one of the rooms which still bears her name in which she s supposed to have stopped that night when she was taken to Dunbar. It does not appear to have been a place of any strength, at the East side is still to be seen one of the small arrow holes but nothing else to indicate at this present day that it was in any way fortified.
