A considerable stream or burn formed by the confluence of "Hopes Water" Danskine Burn" and "Newlands Burn" and running in a N. [North] Westerly direction passing Yester mansion and Gifford Village. About one mile from which it is joined by Baugh Burn thence it is called Coalston Water.
