The remains of an extensive encampment, supposed to have been Roman, situated in a field on the east side of Bolton Moor. Its eastern side was destroyed in making the road which leads southward from the village of Bolton. In the locality it is Known as the "Chesters"

nature, probably, is the camp in Bolton
