014 | [Situation] About 15 Chains South from Milton A small eminence a little South of Milton where a number of rude stone coffins containing human bones were exhumed a few years ago. The graves were very numerous and of various dimmensions and seem to have been made at a very remote period. On account of the number of small graves, evidently those of children, it cannot be the place of sepulture of warriors slain in battle but seems to have been a regular burying place. Dilligent search was made for coins &c. but nothing was found to throw any light upon this discovery. |
