Old Church
J. Hall Esqr.
George Affleck
012 [Situation] About 5 chains N. [North] from Dunglas.
A very old church, situated a little north of the mansion of Dunglas. The seating etc. is all removed; the walls are in a good state of preservation and surmounted by a square tower, and the southern transept, is used as a burying place of the Hall family. "Near it (Dunglass) stands an old chapel, which, though not now used for the purpose it was originally intended, is still kept in good repair. It was built about the middle of the fourteenth century, by Sir Thomas Hume, who married Nicolas Pipdie, heiress of Dunglass." Old Stat. [Statistical] Acct. [Account] vol. 1 p. 409
