A Small open Valley thro' [through] which a stream flows, extending from the S. [South] East base of Priestlaw or Priestlaw Hill to the Valley through which Killmade Burn flows.
It is so called from it being a favourite resort of Gowks or Cuckoos.

A Small Stream on the Farm of Priestlaw, which flows in an Easterly direction into Killmade Burn. So called from a Number of Saugh bushes growing on its banks.
