024 This is a mineral line of Railway which up to 1848 was used for passenger traffic and was up to that period called the "Monklands and Kirkintilloch Railway". In the year mentioned this line along with the Ballochney Railway and the Slamannan Railway were all amalgamated under the title of the Monkland Railways which title now applies to the whole system. The Company have dropped all the branch Titles or names and in referring to any particular part merely speak of them as crossings, gates & stations &c It has been considered necessary to adopt "Kirkintilloch Branch" to this line without the authority of the Railway Co. [Company] whose mode as "Monkland Railways" only would lead to confusion in other Parishes. (See Cadder Parish N [Name] Sheets with reference to this name)
