024 | This name is given without any distinction to a number of houses on the north-west side of the Parish Road & also to a good Farm Steading (Trace 6 of this Plan). The Farm of "Easter Gallowhill" is indeed oftener used without the distinction "Easter" than with it. The Hill upon which the houses stand is unimportant both as a hill and with respect to its being an object of interest as might be inferred from the name. There is nothing known about "Gallowhill" farther than the name, which applies as described. The top of it has been sketched to shew in what manner the name would apply in that farm, and it appears that the arrangement on the Traces will apply better to the objects required than if written to the hill, which would [continued on page 19] |
