020 | This name, although taken from a Farm in FalKirK Ph. [Parish] on the opposite Side of the Burn, is so generally referred to the Burn that there is little doubt but the name is well established. It cannot, however, be said to apply farther than Trace 5, where the Public Foot Path crosses it, from its junction with "Red Burn" Trace 1 of this Plan, near the Caledonian line of Railway. This name is different from that given on Co. [County] Map which gives it as "Red Burn", which is altogether a misnomer, the course of the Burn of that name being well known to come through the "Vault Glen". The head of this Burn is at "Arns" from a Moss. |
