009 A large flat rock, approaching an oval shape, situated at the point where the North side of "Loch Goyle" joins "Loch Long". At high water this rock is surrounded by the sea, and at low water forms a peninsula.
About 30 years ago when fish were more plentiful in the Loch this rock was the frequent resort of seals which were in the habit of scrambling to the top of it and there basking in the rays of the sun, which accounts for the name . It is equally well known as "Carraig nan Ron" or as the "Dog Rock".
