030 [Situation] Near the Site of St. Connel's Chapel.
A name applied to a strong spring on the original farm of Kirkconnel. A small Chapel or hermitage is supposed to have existed in the immediate vicinity the occupants of which got their water from this well and from this Circumstance the well derives its name
The name is supposed to be taken from St. Conal or Connel, to whom the Chapel was dedicated.
