A name applied to a very abrupt portion of the road leading from Auchenhaistnen to Bennan. According to a tradition in the district a battle was fought here between the Scots & English.
A rhyme current among the people says, - "Duddiestone Hass where the English let the Scotch three times them pass" that is the English let the Scotch pass three times not daring to attack them
