013 A very conspicuous clump of Rocks mostly covered with grass and encircled by a grass plot. It is situated on the moorland feature called Whiteside, it has the appearance of artificial work.
A small hill, the sub-strata is a craig of sandstones, it has a grassy surface and nothing whatever artificial
It is said the Earl sat here looking on the men fighting, hence the name.
