This is a name applied to the Roman Camp at Middlebie.
Tradition states that a city stood here and on the Field adjoining it on the west called the "City of Menos" This field was trenched a few years ago and the foundations of a number of houses discovered , part of a Roman Altar was also found now in possession of J Irving Esq[Esquire] Burnfoot. A few coins and a number of carved and lettered stones have also been found.
