An old-fashion square building, to which this name, originally applies. There is no Historical information, known respecting it, excepting, that it formerly, belonged to the Johnstones of Annandale, and that probably it was used as a watch tower, in the time of the Rebellion. The escutcheon of the Johnstones is still to be seen on the North side of the building. Attached, is a good dwelling house, offices, etc, the residence is a good property of Mr John Edgar Dickson. See page 3.

A steep wooded brae, a natural formation which consists of Forest Trees, slightly mixed with fir trees.
