Two Cottages and Some outbuildings, all in a Ruinous Condition, the Farm House of Farthing James formerly Stood here, a new house being erected, the term old has been applied to this to distinguish it from the Modern Farthing James, I think Farding James is the proper mode of Spelling, Fardingdale being an old term for a quantity of land. Farding is still in use in many of the Border Counties.
