030 [Situation] Near the Centre of Glencairn, 16 miles North west from the Burgh of Dumfries.
A considerable village on the west side of Dalwhat Water the Houses in general are one story high, It contains 2 Inns, 2 Branch Banks, Post office, and, supports 2 Surgeons.
There are three fairs held yearly in it. About the year 1638, a Charter was granted constituting Minnyhive a Burgh of Barony with power to hold a weekly market. See Page 2.

A circular massive building of stones about 7 Feet in diameter, and nearly the same in height. and from the centre of which a stone pillar about 1 foot in diameter rises about 8 feet with a cross on the top date. 1638 Surmounted by the Cardinal points and a a flying dragoon
