An old dyke, - being the continuation of the one shewn in Sanquhar. Said to have been constructed immediately subsequent to the Roman withdrawal from this Country. It is composed of earth and stones varies in in breadth from 8 to 14 feet and is from 3 to 5 ft. [feet] in height. Dr. [Doctor] Simpson is of opinion that it is the wall called by some authorities Deil's Dike.
