Here formerly stood a Castle belonging to the Douglas Family. In the wall of the Cottage, Called Old Coshogle, there is a stone with a Coat of Arms And having the date 1576 marked upon it, A large portion of the Walls were standing about 30 years ago, but, are now altogether removed leaving no trace but a slight uneveness in the ground.
