039 A dwellinghouse with garden barns & other farm offices and a farm of land attached. The present dwelling house was built in 1660, but the buildings have the appearance of being at one time of some strength, Bogrie - probably the dwelling by the bog.
The dwelling house was erected in 166 , but the Tower is of much older date, & is of Similar Construction, as the Tower at SandayWell, See Remark on Sundaywell, Plan 39/16

A Stream having its source on Bogrie Moorruns thro' [through] falls into Glenesslin Burn.

039 [Situation] About 2¾ miles N.W.[North West] by W. [West] of Dunscore village.
The remains of a Camp, which from its form, is believed to have been used by the Romans. It is situated in the bottom of the valley, but there are the remains of an outpost higher up probably intended to overlook the surrounding hills See prceeding Page "Camp".
*This has been a Strongly Constructed Camp, but seems improbable, from its low situation, to have been of Roman Origin, 'Trenches of Pass' were numerous in the Feudal times, and most likely this was one of them, its situation merely commanding the Pass of Glenessland. OB
