The Horticultural Society of Dumfries hold their annual Show of flowers general for some time past within these ornamental grounds. within the grounds is green house, vinery, &c. also a neat cottage occupied by the gardener. The name Castledykes was originally applied to the fortification that defended Cummins Castle which stood here on Castle Hill. It is the property & residence of John Buchan Hepburn Esqr.
