053 | [Situation] To the South of Auldhouse Rig. Is a portion of ground on the farm of Kerr covered with heathy pasture. At a former period the parish of Half-Morton was united to Langholm, and the Parish Minister of the latter place officiated once a month at Half-Morton, and there being no good roads he had to proce [proceed] over the hills, and generally in crossing this portion of ground which is of a very marshy and mossy nature, his horse used to 'lair' and the place since then has always borne the name of "The Minister's Slack". |
