[Situation] 2 chains N.E. [North East] of GilKnockie Bridge. Tradition, states that this was a Stronghold belonging to and occupied by the Armstrong's. Portions of the foundation are still traceable - Supposed to have been a place of great strength, protected on the East side by a deep ditch (Known in the district as the Moat) and on the South West and North sides by the rugged banks of the River Esk. |
