Here, according to tradition, formerly Stood a chapel, which existed previous to the Reformation, there is no trace of it now, but human bones have been often raised by the plough, It is said the Stones from the Chapel were used in the erection of Barngliesh Tower, now also removed, & a farm house erected on its site. This church, most probably, has given the name to the lands of Barngleish, which seems to be a corruption of "Baranaglish" the High lands of the Church, or, of the Clergy,
