Mr. S. N. Morrison
133.15 This name is applied to a stone coffin, covered with a triangular block of stone, and level with the surface, in the graveyard of Tullibody
“The visitor will perceive a stone coffin on the north side of this church with niches for the head and arms. This is called the Maiden Stone, and receives its name from the following tradition, that a certain young lady of the neighbourhood had declared an affection for the minister, who from some cause or other, made no return, and she died in consequence; but before her death she requested that her body would be put in the stone coffin, instead of being buried, and placed at the door of the church.” Parker Lawson’s Gazceeter of Scotland
