027 A large Deep pool on the River Thurso, near Torr Dubh, The nam Damh was that of a man killed at this pool. This man had been in the service of a Farmer some where up the valley, some time after leaving him he returned to ask his wages. The Farmer who was employed at some of his farm work, told him he would give him his wages as soon as he would finish his work, the Damh, or Ox as he was called, for nickname, saw by his manner, that he intended no good, & ran away but The Farmer overtook and killed him at this pool; hence the name. Nothing is known of the date on which this occured.
