OLD MAN OF WICK | Old Man o' WicK Rock (Supposed Remains of) | Alexander McGregor, Pulteney David Petrie, Pulteney James Miller, Wick |
025 | This is supposed to be the Remains of a prominent Rock or Stack which has long since disappeared with the exception of its base. Mr McGregor one of the Authorities given recollects quarrying portions of it away 40 Years ago & is well satisfied of the site & name. The name does not appear to be well known in the locality, & I have had much difficulty in getting any information on the subject. In 1868 there was a law suit about this object, when it was found that no person could be relied upon for giving the exact position. Mr Miller Town Clerk can give no information futher than what is stated above. |
