020 | A strong built circular tower, rising to a hight of about 70 feet from the centre of one of the sides of a rectangular enclosure of masonry. Erected about 1847 on the point of the promontory of Noss head, about 3 miles N. [North] East of WicK. Gives forth a brilliant flash every half minute, having a steady bright light during the interval, the former being visible about 15 miles at sea. A splendid view Can be had from the summit in a clear day, both of the Surrounding Country and to Seaward. The cliff here being about 200 or 300 feet above sea level. In the interior of the square opposite to the tower, and built to the wall are the dwelling houses of the Keepers There are also in connexion, several acres of Arable and pasture lands, enclosed by a Strong stone & lime wall.
