005 This name is derived from the fact that a *Church originally stood here. There are many old people in Thurso who remember seeing cattle grazing on the pastures, which were once here, and it is not long ago since there were several dwelling houses standing on what is now fore-shore.
*Some say that it was the remains of a ''Druidical Temple'' which stood on the ''Kirk Ebb'', and from which it took its name, but no authentic information can be obtained in connection with it.
