017 Is situated upon the South East side of Thurso River. and about one mile from the North end of the parish. it is about half a mile square with the greater part of the houses from two to three chains apart. there are two churches. two Schools, one Inn. and one P.H. [Public House] in the Village. the streets are laid out, square to each other, but The most of the streets have been made, but not properly finished; the whole of them colored on trace have had stones laid occasionally on them, but few of them have been made therefore they are soft and dirty
