The Torran Water pursued a [serpent] like course through it up to 1864 but [due] to its frequently flooding the Leans the [previous] tenant, (James Purves Esq.) in order to secure them for permanent pasture, caused a [drainage] channel to be cut for the Torran Water which has effectually dried them - and now instead of having a large tract of [land] he has 70 acres or more of good sheep- [pasture] Torran Leans are the property of the "Crown" |
