001 A corruption probably of 'Long Point'. It applied to a long point of rock which runs out from the land almost due north - It is the continuation of a peninsular rock on which are a great many traces of ruins - and which has been at one time seperated from the main land by a deep fosse - See trace 3 of [Sheet] 1-15 - I can get no reliable information about it. however it is without doubt the remains of an old fort or Brough - similar to the Hillock of Hangy Goe
