003 | There remains to be seen at the present day two of these ancient places of abode, on the Northern portion of the island, district of Netherton. The larger of the two is near the extreme north and Composed of a Cairn of Stones about 30 yds [yards] in diameter, and rising to a height of about 15 feet. The other is a small mound over grown with grass, on the margin of the sea banK fronting the "Goags of Bagwa" From these remnants of antiquity, it is evident that the island of stroma was inhabited by the ancient Britons, prior to the period of occupation by the Scandinavians. |
