007 ; 012 ; 013 ; 018 ; 019 The parish of Bower is in the presbytery of Caithness, Synod of Sutherland and Caithness, Patron Sir James Colquhoun Esqr, it is bounded on the north by the parishes of Dunnet and Olrig, on the south by the parishes of Watten and Wick, on the east by the parish of Wick and on the west by the parishes of Thurson & HalKirK. The parish contains about 19908 statute acres. There are no detached portions of the parish of Bower, nor are there any detached portions of any other parishes situated within it. The general aspect of the parish is flat, bare & bleaK, the only rise of any importance is a ridge of no great elevation which divides the parish nearly in two; the greatest portion of the surface is under cultivation; a large area of waste land has only recently been reclaimed, there is no town or village within the parish, but it is traversed in all directions by good roads.
