Mr Wilson Town Clerk Mr Gillies Mr Palmer Schoolmaster |
204.06 | 2 plain buildings connected by a porch or lobby, and are appropriated as the Parish School. There was formerly here a residence called the Bishop's House. "There was formerly, in Bishop Street, where the Rothesay Parish School now stands, a residence called the Bishop's House, consisting of a principal part, and a long range of other considerable buildings to the eastward of it. The principal house was demolished in 17- that a street might be made through the Bishop's Orchard. The different buildings, with the garden and orchard, appeared to have been the property of a family of greater opulance than that of any of the Burgesses; But when and by whom, built is unknown. They were the private property of Bishop Graham who resided there." - Wilson's Guide, Page 176. The name is therefore inapplicable to be perpetuated. J.B. Lt. RE [Lieutenant Royal Engineers] |
