CAIRN (Site of) [Rhubodach] Stone Cist 182 A tumuli was leveled and ploughed up here recently by Mr Duncan of Rhubodach, and a stone coffin with a scull in it found. The scull is pronounced to be a true "celtic scull". It was sent to London by the Revd [Reverend] Mr McBride at the desire of the Antiquarian Society.

182 A large farm steading the property of the Marquis of Bute. The latter name Rhubodach is the popular name, indeed it is never called by any other name by the people of the Island. "Rue" seems to be a contraction of the name.
