194.14 The old name for this place is Port Bannatyne, but the present proprietor Mr. Hoyle, has changed if for the more fashionable one of Kamesburgh. It is situated on the South East corner of the Parish and on the bay of Kames, from which it takes its name, There are four Public houses in the village having fashionable sign boards, such as the "Royal Hotel" &c. but they are simply Public houses There are two Churches in the village, Roman Catholik & Free Church, ...
"Kamesburgh" extends to the Point House on trace 5.

FREE CHURCH SCHOOL [Kamesburgh] 194.14 the Free Church school adjoins the church, and receives a grant from the board of education.

POST OFFICE [Kamesburgh] 194.14 The Post office here is subsidiary to Rothesay, but under the control of the General Post office.
PIER [Kamesburgh] 194.14 There is a stone Pier and Quay in the centre of the village, but there is little traffick at it, except for Coal, & farming requirements, there is a large wooden Pier erected by the proprietor (Mr Hoyle) for the accomodation of the steam boats, at which wharfage is charged.
