194.13 | This old Castle, formerly the ancient seat of the Bannatynes, is now the property and residence of Duncan Hoyle Esquire, It consists of a single large tower built in the style of the 14th Century, with battlements and a watchtower on the top. The late Lord Bannatyne added a modern addition to the tower, which, like others in remote times, was fashioned more as a defence against the foe, than with regard to domestic comfort.
